This Barbie has my interest…. a Game Developer Barbie. Hmmmmmm
I know I have been very bad at neglecting my dolls in the last few years but I hope it will change once more this summer! No, I have no specific plans right now to do anything special but I know I want to pick up at least one naked doll and make her a dress. I have a Lamilly I got as a first edition during the Kickstarter and she is still in her box. I want to work with my patterns and fabric once more and hope inspiration will strike sometime soon… perhaps between other projects like the vests, diaper bag liner, tunics, pants and jackets that are already on my list.
Keep an eye out eventually I’ll come back here as dolls are one of my primary loves for sewing!
Tiny Betsy is now one of my favorite dolls to draft and dress. She is small enough to only take a fat quarter of fabric for a dress but large enough that she is still easy to sew for.
I first got my Betsys after hosting a Travelling Betsy doll. The darling little visitor traveled with my daughter and I to the State Fair and Betsy’s gift was a duplicate dress to my daughter’s first day of Pre-School dress. (I sent one with the travelling doll and later made a new one for Sera’s Betsy)
My daughter was devastated that Betsy had to go visit other people and so at birthday time I found and adopted the two Betsys we now have. Why two dolls? Well of course it was because I guessed that she and I would argue over the doll if there was only one…. over the years I’ve been right about that and neither one of us even remembers who had which doll to start and happily dress both dolls!
That year Betsy got several dresses for Christmas and that is the main reason she has so many patterns.
What a sweet little doll!
Sera was also very fond of her 18″ doll and she had a duplicate dress as well. The little dark haired Betsy was our visitor.
Over the last 3 years I’ve been swamped with work, kids and college. At the start of summer this year I graduated college and all summer just did not have the energy to sew, draft or design much. I’ve had a couple e-mails lately about Ken, Model Muse and Boy Bratz patterns…. I’m now staring at the first new dolls I’ve had in about 3 years! I also have a partial draft for an outfit for Kitty Collier staring at me so I am going to finish the rework of the website and start on some new drafts! How long this will take depends on how much energy I have each day after work and on weekends still but hopefully I’ll start posting some new patterns later this year or early next year!
I’m off to measure my new ladies and gentlemen and work on some other items!
